	Sunday 6 July 2008 had 7 competitors come to the Cawarral Pistol Range of the Rockhampton SSAA to shoot the Standard Pistol Match. Standard Pistol is one of the shooting events of the Olympic Games. It is shot with a rimfire pistol held in one hand. The maximum score is 600 points from 60 shots. Results: Mary Gillott 422; Mike Coates 417; Keith Harrower 395; Peter Verhaart 387; Steve Gillott 371. Using two hands: Merv Cox 466; Gladys Cox 414.

	Saturday 28 June. Three shooters set themselves the difficult task of hitting standard Pistol targets at 50 meters distance at the Cawarral Range of the Rockhampton SSAA. 	Seven shooters turned up at Rockhampton SSAA's Pistol range at Cawarral in the morning to shoot the Standard Pistol Match. In the afternoon nine shooters turned up to shoot the Rapid Fire Pistol Match. They came to compete in the 10 m Air Pistol Match. Results: Ladies (out of 400): Lenore Eccles 268. 	Sunday, the wet 3rd day of February, five shooters met at the Cawarral Pistol Range of the Rockhampton SSAA. The scheduled shoot was Standard Pistol but since wet paper targets cannot be patched, we chose to shoot a Rimfire Pistol Metallic Silhouette Match. The results: Steve Gillott 19; Mary Gillott 13; Peter Verhaart 5; Barry Facer 3; Mark Facer 3. After lunch the weather looked slightly better so the Rapid Fire Match was shot. 	There was a lot of Air Pistol shooting at the end of last week at the Cawarral Range of the Rockhampton SSAA. There was the Friday Night shoot, on the third Friday of the month. 	Saturday 24 November three shooters gathered at the Rockhampton SSAA Range at Cawarral in the morning to compete in the 50 meter Pistol Match. The match is shot with pistols firing Long Rifle Rimfire ammunition and gives the shooter (using one hand) around 2 hours to fire 60 scoring shots as well as any number of sighting shots. 	Saturday 27 May. Three shooters took part in the new 50 meter Rimfire Pistol Match (also called Free Pistol Match) The match is shot free standing and single handed. 	Saturday 25 February, a day packed with precision Pistol Shooting. In the morning 4 shooters turned up to try their hand at our new discipline; the ISSF 50 m Pistol Match. The choice of pistol is free as long as the caliber is .22 Long Rifle. The match is shot single handed (as are all Olympic Pistol Matches) on so called 50 meter Slow Fire targets. Slow fire is aptly chosen as the shooters have 3 hours to place 60 scoring shots. The time includes any number of sighting shots, fired before the scoring shots. The highest possible score is 600. The results: Stewart Gavin 377; Peter Verhaart 294; John Eccles 137; Peter Dalzell 115. Watch this space next month, the scores are bound to improve dramatically.
